Sherazade
It is with much sadness and a heavy heart that we write to tell you our darling precious Sherazade has passed over the rainbow bridge. She died peacefully in her sleep earlier today after being diagnosed a few days ago with advanced kidney failure.
For those of you who don’t know her story, she came to us in June 2019 in a terrible state. She was totally malnourished, dehydrated and had so many horrific wounds that she needed over 50 stitches. That first day, our vet Dr Amira spent over 2 hours patching her up.
Thanks to so many kind sponsors she received ongoing treatment, and with lots of care and love from our volunteers, by September she was well on the way to being fully recovered physically. Her emotional recovery would take more time but with love and patience we made good progress.
She lived quietly and happily with Dahab Cats volunteer and supporter, Sally who with dedication and love nursed Sherazade back to the beautiful cat we knew she was.
We were over the moon when she found a home in Europe and in recent months, we had been making all the preparations for her journey. Due to the pandemic, unfortunately the move didn’t happen. And perhaps was never to be.
She spent the last few months living with Gill, enjoying life as any other cat: sleeping in the air con in the heat of the day and venturing out into the garden in the evenings. Maybe not the most sociable of cats, she was happy, chilled and content.
We can’t sum up how heartbroken we are right now. We’ll never forget her. While people say Sherazade was a lucky cat to find us, we feel equally lucky to have known her. A truly beautiful soul.
