Adoptions

Procedure, possibilities & costs

We have many cats and kittens looking for their forever home. Adoptions can be made from anywhere in the world, with preparation time varying depending on the destination country.

For each adopted cat, we require a donation to cover the preparation costs, including paperwork, vaccinations, and travel arrangements. This ensures the cat is ready to join their new family.

Any additional donations are always welcome and go directly toward the ongoing care of our cats, including neutering, veterinary fees, food, bedding, and litter while they are in our care. Your support helps us continue to provide the best possible care for these animals.

How does it work?

1. Microchip

A cat that travels is required to have a microchip. The chip contains a microchip on which the registration number is stored. This registration number can be read using a special reader. The chip has no effect on its health.

2. Rabies vaccination

Before the cat travels, we must vaccinate it against rabies. Egypt is considered a high-risk country for rabies. After a month, sufficient antibodies have been built up for a blood test.

3. Blood sampling & posting

To test for rabies antibodies, we need a blood sample taken by the veterinarian. The cat is given a mild sedative before the blood sample is taken to ensure the process is as stress-free as possible.

4. Titer test

The blood sample will be sent to a laboratory for analysis, and we receive the results within a few weeks, ensuring the cat meets the required health standards for adoption and travel.

5. Health certification

Once all necessary steps have been completed, the cat is fully registered, and there is proof that he or she is rabies-free, the health certificate can be issued. With this certificate and the passport, the cat is ready to travel.

6. Travelling

To transport the cat to the location in question, you could travel yourself, or we will look for/make a post looking for a flight parent if neccesary. Please note that it may take a while before someone is available.
