March 2021 News
It’s been a busy winter for Dahab Cats and we have been a bit lax on updating you all on our latest comings and goings. Grab a coffee, and read our March news…
Mia
Our lovely foster cat Fluffy, now called Mia, made her journey to Switzerland with her lovely new mum Alexandra and is now settled in to her lovely new life with her feline big brother. We couldn’t be happier for her. Be happy Mia.
Boudicca
During our last targeted TNR campaign one of our volunteers found a tiny kitten, on its own, and in quite a sorry state. She was wandering the street with lots of crust around her nostrils and her eyes stuck together and infected. We run Dahab Cats from our homes, so can’t usually take in kittens - we get reports of abandoned kittens on a regular basis.
However, luckily for little Boudicca, as she’s now called, someone had messaged us just the day before looking for a young kitten to be a companion to their own rescue cat that he’d also found wandering the streets. So for this cheeky little ball of fuzz the stars aligned and we brought her in. After a few days of treatment for her eye infection and a bit of TLC, she went to her new home to cause mischief with her new sibling, Remy. We love a happy ending and Boudicca’s story is one of the best.
Sick Cat
Right at the end of the month, one of our team was dining out in one of Dahab’s restaurants, when she noticed that one of the resident cats was sick. He appeared to have a very bad cold and had a bloody mass in his ear.
The staff had tried to treat him already but he wasn’t getting better, so we took him to the vet.
It is possible that he has a tumour which causes his painful wounds and his respiratory issues but we first need to rule out any viral or bacterial infections.
For now we have quarantined him and are treating him with antibiotics. He's a very relaxed and friendly cat.
